Together We Are One: The Henry Wilson Wolves

My name is Brandi Worley and I am a proud team member of the Henry Wilson Elementary School Team co-sponsored by the Heinemann Company. This year I am excited to report that the Wilson Wolves are at it again! We are excited about keeping the City Year culture high and our impact on the students and staff of Wilson positive and helpful. We accept the torch passed down from former corps members and hope to make them proud as we continue to strengthen the legacy.

Attitudes from the team are focused on bettering our students, team, and ourselves.  We eagerly progress with the year inviting differences that gel us together, creating ideas that will flourish our classrooms, and  developing new ways to impact the school as a whole positively. We realize that none of our goals could be accomplished without an amazing staff at Henry Wilson and our Team Leader, Julie Fischer.

As Julie says, “So far, my experience at Wilson has consisted of several changes for both the team and the school.  Throughout these changes, I have witnessed an amazing staff that has supported each other in as many ways as they could, each step of the way.  I have also seen a great team of seven corps members, who have a lot of passion to serve and who have grown a lot in the past couple of months.  I am excited to see all of this continue throughout the year”.

On a personal note, I genuinely love seeing my students’ faces and the bright futures’ they possess. They all have this inner light that needs to be nurtured, so that we can have a strong generation to lead us.  While focusing on our students is a necessity, we also are looking forward to becoming an even more cohesive team as the year continues.

“The support system that is established between the Wilson team members is stupendous. Although we all have varying personalities, ideas, and work styles, we come together for the greater cause, which is to ensure the success of the children at the school.  I think it is very befitting that our mascot is the wolf. Wolves thrive by working together as a pack and we are just that. A job done together far exceeds the result of a job done alone.  I’m proud to be a part of the Wilson wolf pack” graciously said by Ju Lin.

After already going through several changes, I can see the family we are building and relying on. The respect we have as colleagues, teammates and as a family keep us laughing, trying and together. My team truly embodies the meaning of Ubuntu, my humanity is tied to yours. I am so proud to be amongst these amazing individuals.
