The Power Of Service

On Friday, October 29th, the City Year corps members went to Gossler Park Elementary School for a fall service day. As the students were in school learning, we painted murals in the lunch room, fixed up the baseball field, and re-cleared the walkway to their jungle-gym.

It was a great day for many reasons; corps members got leadership opportunities, and the students witnessed the power of service.  At recess they came and talked to us. They asked where we worked and why we were helping their school. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn that City Year was all over Manchester not just in their school. That few hours of service connected all of City Year New Hampshire with Gossler Park and the surrounding community.
