Two months into City Year, eight more to go. It’s wild to think that we’re here for such a finite period of time and yet our goals are so lofty
I am currently serving on a school based team in a third grade classroom. And although my classroom has some very challenging and unique children, my experience has been positive. There are sometimes when the work is difficult, when the work demands that I reach into the reserves of patience that I did not know I had within me but the pay-off; to see a student get a math problem they have been struggling with for the entire lesson or to see them have small successes in behavior or reading makes it all worth it.
Our time here is so short, so I have vowed to make that time count. To be fully present for my students in hopes that when the dust settles and life whisks me away to wherever it may that I leave something positive behind.
I’d like to leave behind one of my favorite PITWs: Use every experience as a Learning Experience.
Peace and Love.
